Every metal fabrication project is unique and has its own needs and requirements. Some projects are more complex and require more steps than others. However, there are some general phases that most fabrication projects go through. In this article, we discuss the five phases of any metal fabrication project.
Planning & Design
The first step in any metal fabrication project is the planning and design phase. This is when you will meet with your project manager and talk through the full scope of the project, and discuss any special requests you may have, as well as your budget.
Cutting
Once the plans have been finalized, the next phase involves cutting the metal to meet the specifications of the final product. There are a handful of techniques that may be used in this phase, including: high-temperature blow torch and laser-guided machines.
Bending
After the metal has been cut, it then has to be bent. This is typically accomplished with the use of press brakes – a machine that bends metal with incredible precision.
Assembly & Delivery
Finally, the separate pieces that have been cut and bent to the appropriate specifications then need to be assembled into the final product and delivered to the customer.
