There are many steps that go into a given metal fabrication project. On top of that, each project has different requirements. Simpler projects will typically have fewer steps, while more complex projects will have more stages. That being said, there are some general stages that most fabrication projects go through. In this article, we are going to walk through the most common stages of a metal fabrication project.
Planning
The first step in any metal fabrication project is the planning stage. During this stage, you will meet with your project manager and discuss the full scope of the project, any special requests you may have, as well as your budget.
Cutting
Once you’ve got a plan for the project, the next stage is typically the cutting stage. During this step the metal is cut to meet the specifications of the product. The cutting can be accomplished by several methods such as high-temperature blow torch, or laser-guided machines.
Bending
Once the metal has been cut, it then has to be bent. Typically, this is accomplished by using a press brakes – a machine that offers incredible precision in the bend process.
Assembly
The separate pieces that have been cut and bent then need to be assembled into the final product.
